Volunteers

MANCHESTER Giants’ home matches could not take place without the amazing support of more than 25 volunteers.

Fans will see them at every game and they ensure we have a fantastic and safe experience.

All volunteers are signed  up with our partner, the StreetGames UK national sports charity.

The StreetGames charity places great emphasis on youth volunteering in partnership with the Co-operative.

The charity runs The Co-operative StreetGames Young Volunteer (CSYV) programme in more than 80 projects. Manchester Giants is one of these.

The CSYV programme, which was established in 2007, offers volunteering opportunities for 16-25 year-olds, helping them make a positive difference in their local community.

The programme also assists participants in developing their confidence, self-esteem and community leadership skills, and they have the opportunity to gain recognised awards and qualifications.

The Manchester Giants volunteers have attended a Basketball Activator Workshop to provide participants with the skills to run fun basketball sessions for young people.

This practical workshop, developed by StreetGames and England Basketball, introduces the basic techniques of the sport. Participants learn a range of basketball activities and games which help develop players’ understanding and skills. They also receive guidance on organising informal leagues and competitions.
