Giants Women's Player of The Year Awards

With the Women’s British Basketball Season coming to a close the Manchester giants have announced their winners for the 2023/24 player of the season awards.

It was the maiden campaign for the Giants not only under head coach Marg Jones but also under the Manchester Giants banner. With a new influx of players this season there has been one woman who Marg Jones brought in to steady the ship and facilitate on the court and that was Giant's point guard Brooklynn Macalear-Fanus.

The Giants guard is no stranger to the Women’s British Basketball League after linking up with Marg Jones in Leicester for the 2021/22 season. The Canadian guard enjoyed a successful season where in 20 games she averaged 11.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game.

In her 4th season as a professional the University of Ottawa alumni averaged 10.5 points, 5.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 17 total games.

The Manchester Giants players voted on who they as a unit believe to be the player of the season. In their first season as Giants, the award would go to Manchester Giants all star Myah Pace. The Giants guard played a major role in the Manchester Giants season averaging 13.4 points and over 4 assists per game in her debut season as a professional.

The Combo guard out of Oakland California came into the league with an NCAAW pedigree having finished 14th all time in scoring, 6th all time in assists and 8th all time in free throws made during her 5 year collegiate career at the University of San Diego.

Myah Pace would do the double as the rookie and inaugural all star would also take home the Manchester Giants Defensive Player of the Year award. Pace finished the season with 8.4 rebounds across league and cup competitions as well as 2.1 steals per game, putting her in the top 10 for steals throughout the season and throughout the league.

Pace and her defensive ability have always been a consistent part of her game as she was also a facilitator and on the boards all throughout her collegiate career too having finished 3rd all time in steals and 9th all time in offensive rebounds during her 5 years at the University of San Diego.

A massive congratulations to all the Manchester Giants for this past season.
