The Giants have teamed up with The Manchester College to create an academy for 16-19-year-olds.
Our basketball academy players train twice a week, and have conditioning sessions before college as well as competing in the Regional AoC Sport League on Wednesdays. We’re linked to the professional arm of the Manchester Giants basketball club, which means our Academy players may go on to represent the Giants in their Junior National League Programme as a pathway for their continued development.
We are starting a girls development programme for September 2017 again linked to the Giants’ academy coaching programme, playing weekly games basketball as well as regular training and conditioning sessions.
As a basketball academy player you’ll get expert coaching from the Giants’ coaches and FREE access to all of the Giants’ home games as well as access to coaching and officiating courses.
Our Talanted Athlete Support Programme is a bursery open to those who compete at National League level or above. This year we’re able to offer the bursery to five members of the basketball academy.
We also access the newly built Basketball Performance Centre at Belle Vue Sports Village for training and college competitions.
Our academy players have the opportunity to join our Enhancing Student Employability Programme (ESEP). The aim of the ESEP is to provide students with opportunities to gain invaluable experience, qualifications and eventually employment through sport volunteering.
