News

The Giants play the first of three games in a week when Leicester Riders visit the Sportsdome on Sunday.

The game is a BBL Trophy clash and the winners will face Newcastle Eagles or Edinburgh Kings in the quarter-finals.

Danny Byrne’s men are looking to bounce back from defeat to the Rocks in league action last Sunday, which followed their thrilling last-gasp win at Bristol on Saturday.

The Riders – holders of the Trophy as well as reigning treble champions – will, as usual, present a tough challenge, though they have lost twice in eight league games so far this season.

What the coach is saying

Danny Byrne: “The result against the Rocks was disappointing. We didn’t start well at all after doing so well at Bristol the night before.

“It’s tough with such a quick turn-around but we have to be better. The second half we were but we’d given ourselves too much to do.

“The win at Bristol on Saturday was a great feeling and great team basketball and we’ll need that against against Leicester who we know are a very good team.

“Having said that, I’m actually really looking forward to this one. We’ll be up for it.”
