The Giants’ season came to a disappointing end with defeat to Leicester meaning the Play-offs are out of reach.

Danny Byrne’s men needed at least one win from their final two games – and for results elsewhere to go for them – to have a chance of making it into the top eight.

But after going down at Cheshire on Friday, they could not get the better of champions Leicester at George H Carnall on Sunday in a close-fought contest.

Willie Clayton claimed the BBL record for most rebounds in a season with his 10th board of the 17 he took. He also scored 12 points.

Mike McCall scored 13, with Torry Butler (12) and Vlatko Granic (10) also in double figures.

The Giants took the first quarter 24-19 and led 37-30 at half-time.

But the Riders upped their game in the second half a claimed a lead late in the third quarter that they never relinquished.

It means the Giants finish the season with a 14-19 record.
