The Giants’ BBL Play-off hopes took a blow with North West derby defeat in Ellesmere Port.
The Phoenix reclaimed eighth spot by inflicting a painful defeat on Danny Byrne’s slow-starting team.
The home side got off to a quick opening, sinking 33 first-quarter points to the Giants’ 13 – and they never looked back.
Down 57-33 at half-time, the Giants could not contain sharp-shooting Cheshire guard Daniel Norl, whose game-high 28 points saw him scoring six of his eight three-point attempts.
Following defeat in the North-West derby, our only hope of the @BenecosUK @BBLofficial Play-offs now is if we beat Leicester (Sun) & Cheshire lose all of their remaining games & Bristol win no more than 2 of their remaining 4. 🙏

The Nix hit 15-32 from beyond the arc overall while the Giants, on the other hand, could only manage 7-25 across the team and that disparity played a large part in their loss.
Mike McCall and Torry Butler scored 15 apiece for the visitors and Willie Clayton closed in on the BBL season-rebounding record with 15 boards to go with his 13 points.
The Giants face Leicester at George H Carnall in their final regular-season game on Sunday (5pm).
They need a win, for the Phoenix to lose their remaining three games and for Bristol to lose two of their four remaining games to get back into the Play-off places.
