Teenage Star Kizzy Spence Returns Home To The Giants

19-year-old Kizzy Spence becomes the latest elite local talent to sign on the dotted line for the Manchester Giants ahead of the 2023/24 Women’s British Basketball League campaign, joining Marg Jones’ side for the new season.

Born and raised in Manchester, Spence returns home to the north-west after two years playing in the League for the Oaklands Wolves, gaining invaluable experience to develop her game as a youngster.

A talented sportsperson since her younger days, Spence was also on the books with Manchester United and Manchester City as an aspiring young footballer, before taking her talents to the hardwood full-time in the city and later, making the move to Oaklands.

Alongside experienced guards, Georgia Anderson, Leah McDerment and Brooklynn McAlear-Fanus, Spence will have vastly experienced teammates from whom she can continue to learn and hone her craft, whilst occupying a key role in Coach Jones’ rotation.

Coach Jones had this to say on Spence’s return to the Giants:

“We are very happy to welcome Kizzy home to Manchester! In her seasons with Oaklands, Kizzy has proven to be a tenacious defender and is comfortable playing multiple positions in the backcourt. Kizzy has a great work ethic, and she will be a wonderful asset to our team this season.”

On her return to Manchester, Spence said:

“I’m so excited to be back home and signing with the Manchester Giants as a professional at 19. This is a huge opportunity for me, and I can’t wait to see what comes next in my basketball career.”
